Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Day 1:
Cusco km82 - Huayllabamba |
Leaving the city behind our vehicle heads north over
the plateau of Chinchero, view of the Snow-capped
peaks of Pitursiray, Sawasiray and Chicon descending into
the Urubamba Valley visiting the Inca fortress of
Ollantaytambo on the way. We continue about another
hour to the roadhead from where our hike starts. We walk along
across the snow-capped peak of Mt.Veronica (Waka Wilqa),
then we cross over at the 82nd km and pass by the ruins of
Patallacta where we will eat lunch , after that we will reach
Huayllabamba where we will camp. A chance to visit
the surrounding archaeological remains of Q'ente and
Machu Q'ente- located amidst Inca Terracing. ( Time: 4-6 hours,
distance: 11kms). |
Day 2: Huayllabamba
/ Pacaymayo |
Spectacular day, the trail ascends at an angle of 30 degrees
towards the pass across the hillside of puna grasslandas we
leave our campsite at the edge of the reeline behind, bringing
us to Warmiwañusca pass (4,050 m.a.s.l./13,280 ft.).
The trail descends to the Pacaymayo river
and the climbs slowly past Runkuraqay ruins.

Day 03: Pacaymayo /
Wiñayhuayna |
From here over a lowerpass to Sayacmarca,
the "waiting village" a clear Inca Trail across
a causeway on a now dry lake past a cave, we continue our
way along a ridge to finally reach Phuyupatamarca
(translate from Quechua= The town at the edge of the clouds)
After continuing along a buttress and passing Phuyupatamarca
ruins, the flagstoned trail winds sharply down into
thecloud forest to the ruins of Wiñay Wayna
located below the ridge on the same water course as the previous
site, it has web restoured Inca Ruins. Here we'll camp. (Time:
08 hrs, distance 09kms.) |
Day 04: Wiñayhuayna
/Machu Picchu /Cuzco |
Breakfast. Early in the morning we will continue our walk
through a cloud forest covered Inca Trail.we arrive at Machu
Picchu in the same used way than the Incas to come across
this magnificent citadel at our walk from Intipunku, the door
of the sun. Guided tour , time off to explore by your own.
4pm Train to Cuzco and transfer to your hotel.
